your finger creates furniture

from veryshortlist and also on the how design blog, check out these really cool furniture pieces created by someone's finger.

comfy or not, the process is what's interesting. using mo-cap the finger is traced and then the captured data is grown from a resin base. check out the youtube video

this is emerging media if i've ever seen it. maybe soon we can all step into a studio for $100 or so and sketch out our ideas in thin air, then walk out with a physical representation an hour later. how cool would that be?

google video having trouble

i believe that google video is going to have trouble creating a great deal of profit from an online video source, and it appears they are running into trouble as the nba has withdrawn its content.

do you think google video or youtube can generate any revenue?

reuters in second life

reuters is now showing a presence in second life. what do you think the response will be? i really wouldn't go there for my news because there are more efficient means for me already on the internet, but maybe i would if second life was more immersive for me.

engineers v marketers

i thought this was pretty interesting and somewhat humourous
Engineers - think it will catch on simply because it’s possible

Economists - think it will go mainstream when it’s cheap enough

Marketers - are sure it will explode if they spend millions marketing it

But the most important thing is that it will not catch on before it’s user friendly and easy to understand!

what tweens would miss

an article on emarketer was very interesting to me. it stated what type of media our kids and tweens would miss the most if it were removed. internet seems to replace tv as numero uno as the kids age. also interesting (and somewhat humourous) was the fact that none of the age groups cared about newspaper and magazines.

interesting article about the viral nature of popular youtube/googleVideo movies
And here's an intriguing question: Can YouTube and Google Video figure out a way to make this a business? If so, could they become the web's equivalent of the broadcast networks?

Website Tweakers

change the look and the feel but not the bones... plastic surgery for websites...I figure if I'm looking for a tweaker, others are too

seth godin's blog

i figure this is a great opportunity for us designers who don't necessarily want to dive into javascript, php, and other coding languages. but we would rather deal with the visual aspects...what greats the visitor's eye

getting the project finalized

well, we are getting our group finalized and our project is coming together. as you may or may not know, the gubernatorial elections are coming up and we have 5(?) candidates. we are going to get some of their followers on camera and see what they have to say. if we can, we are going to get the candidates themselves on camera. we'll see how that goes.

then once we have our content we are going to create a video-cast, or vidcast, or whatever you want to call it. furthermore we are going to try to put this into secondlife as well as a classical website with an rss feed. so check it out....
